DAY 2/ ATHENS. Arrive today in the ancient classical city of Athens. The afternoon is at leisure to prepare for the exciting days ahead. DAY 3/ ATHENS. This morning you will tour the sites of Athens, starting at the Acropolis with its Parthenon, one of the archaeological wonders of the world. Also, visit the Areopagus, where St. Paul preached to the Athenians concerning the "Unknown God." DAY 4/ CRUISE / MYKONOS. Today, you will be transferred to your ship where your cruise of the Aegean Sea begins. Your first port stop will be this evening at the popular island of Mykonos. Enjoy the landscape dotted with hundreds of tiny chapels and white-washed windmills or bask in the serenity of the sunset over the picturesque harbor. Day

CRUISE
/ KUSADASI /
PATMOS. Today, you will stop at the exotic port of
Kusadasi
in Turkey where you will have the opportunity to take an
optional
tour to Ephesus. It is here that St. Paul's most
quoted epistle
was written. Also included on the tour is a visit to The
Virgin Mary's
house. This afternoon you
will sail to Patmos. This site is famous for the
apocalyptic
Revelations of St. John the Divine who went to Patmos
when he was
exiled by the Roman Empire. DAY
6/
CRUISE
/ RHODES.
This morning arrive at Rhodes, considered by
many to be the
most beautiful
of the Greek islands. The island was once home to the
famous Colossus.
Below
the town of Lindos lies the Bay of St. Paul where the
apostle landed
during
his voyages. DAY
7/
CRETE
7
SANTORINI*. Charming and scenic, Crete was
the former center
of the Manoan civilization. Eupope's earliest, dating
back as early as
2000 BC. The treasures of this era are highlighted by
the partially
reconstructed Palace of Knossos. We continue cruising to
Santorini
whose cliffs rise 1000 feet above the sea offering
spectacular views
and unique charm. (*Embarkation by tender, weather
permitting.) DAY 9/ PHILIPPI / THESSALONIKI . Enjoy a full day excursion to the northern port city of Kavala to visit the remains of Philippi, a city built in 42 BC. This was the first city on European soil where Paul preached in 49 AD. Return to Thessaloniki for the night. DAY 10/ THESSALONIKI / KALAMBAKA. Today, tour Thessaloniki, the capital of Macedonia. This afternoon, drive to Veria and Vergina, site of the discovery of the royal tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. The tomb is especially unique because it is one of the few ever found in perfect condition and it contains extraordinary artifacts in gold, silver, glass and sculpture. Later, arrive at Kalambaka, a small town in Thessaly at the foot of the breathtaking monasteries of Meteora. DAY 11/ KALAMBAKA / METEORA / DELPHI. This morning, ascend the Meteora, to visit the hanging monasteries. Here you will see many treasures from the Byzantine era. This afternoon, continue to Delphi, ancient home of the Greek Gods and Oracles. DAY 12/ DELPHI / ATHENS. In terms of antiquity, a visit to Delphi tends to be a most impressive experience. Among the most famous sights are the Temple of Apollo, the Treasury and the Museum. DAY 13/ CORINTH / NAUPLION / ATHENS. Today, tour Corinth, where St. Paul lived for 18 months and to which he addressed two of his most quoted epistles. Upon return to Athens we will have a little free time for exploring or last minute shopping. This evening enjoy a special farewell dinner with entertainment at a typical Greek taverna. DAY 14/ ATHENS / USA. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. WELCOME HOME! |
